“Queens of third places, masters of the second plan” is the title of a paper co-authored by Anna Pacześniak, who co-organized the “Local Government Women Leaders” conference together with the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office. The event brought together dozens of women serving as mayors, commune heads, county heads, secretaries, or treasurers at various levels of local government in Lower Silesia. At the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Wrocław, they received concise political science analyses on the specific nature of women’s functioning in local politics, took part in workshops on diplomacy, personal branding, and coping with stress related to public office, and expanded their professional networks at the intersection of public administration and academia.
